Then You’ll Love Cathedral of the Senses.

I read the prequel, Trick of the Light. Being a writer myself, I thought it was one of the most inspirational books I’d ever read. In fact, I’d go so far as to say that, in my opinion, Trick of the Light is a masterpiece. Now that I’ve read the sequel, I am blown away. Besides being a writer, my main profession is acting. I love the visual palette the author works from. While dealing with spiritual and philosophical issues in a completely unique manner Mr. Smoke manages to accomplish the trick that eludes most inspirational writers: He entertains the reader! You don’t have to be a spiritual seeker in order to enjoy this book. And I absolutely love the music. My two favorites are “Diamond Mind,” and “Amsterdam.”

– Thomas Morris, actor (“Schindler’s List,” “Angels and Demons,” “The International”)

I consider myself more spiritual than religious. I read the first book, Trick of the Light, and it was wonderful. I’d never read anything like it before. I’ve waited a long time for the sequel and the wait has been worth it. I read a lot of spiritually-oriented non-fiction, but there just isn’t a lot of good inspirational fiction out there that doesn’t try to hit you over the head with a message. This author’s books allow the reader to come to her own realizations about the concepts dealt with in the book. But the best thing about his books is that they’re entertaining. I mean, anyone who can incorporate Zen principles, Van Gogh and the “Holy Hologram” into one story and make you laugh and cry at the same time…that’s really something special. – Diana Diekmann, personal trainer

Back Cover Copy:

Owen Clark walked into my office and, after a brief introduction, said “I’d like you to find my ‘self.’”

“Are you lost?” I replied glibly, waiting for a punch line.

“Exactly. And I think you’re the perfect person to find me.”

I was a trained professional, a private detective with a reputation for handling peculiar client requests.

Clark explained that he was the head of a Hollywood movie studio making a movie about alternate realities. He said that one night he got inside one of the “alternate reality machines” on a sound stage at the studio, and when he stepped out of it he found himself in an alternate reality. This different reality looked pretty much the same as the old one, and he was still Owen Clark. But in this alternate reality he was no longer a Hollywood mogul and no one knew him as the person he used to be.

He sought help from clerics, psychics and psychiatrists, but no one could help him. Desperate and fearing for his own sanity, Owen met a woman who told him about me. Years ago she had brought me a strange case: She wanted me to help her find God.

“I need you to find the self I lost,” said my new client. “The self I have been and wish to be again.”

I understood Owen Clark. It had nothing to do with metaphysics or the bizarre case he had dropped in my lap.

I knew I was lost. But unlike Clark I knew exactly why I was lost.

The main difference between Owen Clark and me was that he still believed he could find his way back.

As a musician and Internet marketer, I hear a lot other people’s music. “Spiritual” music is often not very good, technically, and it’s often preachy. It’s usually written by people who aren’t songwriters and performed by “friends and family.” This guy is a real songwriter and he plays with serious and well-known musicians. I didn’t like every song, but I really, really liked a bunch of them. Most of my favorite albums of all time, I usually liked three or four songs. I loved the innovation and the fact that both aspects–the novel and the music–were executed at a very high level.

– John David Balla, Internet marketing guru, musician

More Praise for Cathedral of the Senses:

“Reminds me of Hermann Hesse’s Siddhartha and Paulo Coelho’s The Alchemist.” – Stan Corwin, author of The Creative Writer’s Companion

“Reminiscent of Conrad’s Heart of Darkness, set in a world straight out of Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings. Cathedral of the Senses is thought-provoking without being preachy. In many ways it’s a fictional depiction of the popular ‘now moment’ philosophies put forth by such contemporary philosophers as Eckhart Tolle.” – John Knoerle, author of A Despicable Profession

“Unlike most Western books I’ve read that try to describe the Zen experience, Cathedral of the Senses creates an environment for the reader to have his or her own experience.” – Bernadette Shih, author of Mao – A Young Man from the Yangtze Valley, and Ling Ling: The Most Beautiful Giant Panda in the World

One Response to “Home”

  1. The release of this MultiMedia eBook is a watershed moment in book and music publishing. Clearly the two no longer need be separate media, and will prove to be a “shot in the arm” for both industries who have been plagued with declining sales. There are many authors who are also musicians and songwriters. Now they will be able to integrate their creativity into a seamless form of expression.
